Fact: The more lean muscle you have on your body, the more calories you burn JUST BY BEING ALIVE. Lean muscle not only helps you lose fat, it also gives you that “tone” look a lot of you seem to want.
You do not build lean muscle from doing endless cardio sessions. In fact, long-duration cardio breaks down muscle tissue for fuel (which leaves you with less muscle tissue, and thus, you burn less calories at rest). Excessive cardio will also flatten you out and make you “skinny fat” (again, from eating away at precious muscle). Your body WANTS to hang onto fat for survival. You have to trick your body into giving it up ;)
If you want to be “tone”, eat clean and lift heavy weights!!!
